Iconic 1990's Rap Star Heavy D died today is Los Angeles approximately 1:00PM PST. The rapper, producer, actor and singer was 44 years old. Heavy D's Christian name was Dwight Arrington Myer and he was born on Jamaica on May 24, 1967. His family moved  to New York City when he was just a boy.  He and his group "The Boyz" signed with Uptown Records and release their first album in 1987. Heavy and the Boyz had a string of hits throughout the 1990's. His popularity faded in the new millennium, but be was in the process of making a return at the time of his untimely death. The cause of death has nor been reported.
